What interests you within Arts Administration and why did you lot choose UA?
I'm drawn to arts administration because I love being behind-the-scenes making things happen. It'southward one thing to exist an artist, just another to produce a show or fundraise. What is your background in the arts?
I grew upward in the arts. My mom sings in a chorale, my dad is a dejection musician and record collector, and I spent a good chunk of my babyhood at the Toledo Museum of Art, which was walking distance from my home. I took the obligatory pianoforte lessons, but really found my passion with dance when I started taking ballet lessons at age seven. I attended Toledo School for the Arts for loftier schoolhouse and knew that arts people were the people I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
What has been your experience and so far with the UA Arts Administration program?
I'm so thrilled that I decided to attend UA for my master's caste. The instructors and staff in the School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration have been so supportive while challenging me to think in different ways. Working as a graduate assistant has besides been extremely rewarding—it is empowering work on various projects for DTAA, see the results, and remember, "Hey, I made that happen!"
Are there any personal highlights or achievements you lot'd like to share from your time in the programme?
In my outset semester in the program I researched and wrote about gentrification and the arts, focusing on means that the arts can either propel gentrification (this is a bad thing) or aid neighborhoods reclaim infinite equally their own through successful creative placemaking (this is a expert thing!). Where do you see yourself later on graduating?

Are there whatever personal highlights or achievements you'd like to share from your time in the programme?
My internship with Cleo Parker Robinson Trip the light fantastic during the summer of 2020 was incredible and inspiring. I felt the work I did with them was impactful and I came dorsum to UA for my second year feeling equipped to graduate and enter the workforce.
What projects are you currently working on?
The Arts Connections Series is a project I'yard proud to be a function of because information technology expands the reach of UA arts past the walls of Guzzetta Hall. Working during a pandemic is difficult, but the opportunity information technology presents to bring people who aren't based in Akron anymore into contact with UA artists is something I'm very excited about.
Where practise you meet yourself afterward graduating?
Later on graduation, I plan to piece of work in arts education administration. I have a passion for creating opportunities for pupil artists because my arts instruction was so influential to how I've grown and how I continue to abound.

I've had the opportunity to piece of work in the arts equally a dance creative person, educator, and administrator. These perspectives have fed both my passion and understanding that the arts play an important role in our development as creative, cocky-expressed, empathetic, and disquisitional thinkers. Arts and civilization help shape communities and deepen people's connections to the traditions, spirit, and cultural expression of the places they call home. I came to UA because I felt that this program would give me the skills and cognition to exist an effective culture bearer and arts leader.
What is your background in the arts?
I danced professionally for a number of companies and projects that include Dayton Gimmicky Trip the light fantastic Company, Dayton Ballet, Verb Ballets, and Neos Dance Theatre. I had the opportunity to dive into research on Creative Placemaking, which at the time was completely out of my comfort zone. Through writing a term paper on the subject in the Research & Writing Techniques for Arts Administration grade, I recognized that municipal arts policy is an area of pregnant involvement.
What projects are you lot currently working on?
Currently, I'thou working as a Graduate Assistant with the National Center for Choreography at The University of Akron ( NCCAkron ) and leading a satellite residency project entitled Dancing Lab: BLKmenMOVES . Nether the leadership of Executive/Artistic Director Christy Bolingbroke, I've been able to support the creative and administrative evolution of 4 Black-identified, male choreographers through a shared-learning cohort model. The artists are from effectually the land, and include: Charles O. Anderson (Austin, TX), Kevin Lee-Y Green (Wilmington, NC), Jean Appollon (Boston, MA), and Akron-native Dominic Moore-Dunson.

I accept spent my time since undergrad as a high school educator. I have loved instilling passion for the arts in immature students and watching them light up over learning. I hold a BA in Fine art from Hillsdale College, and studied photography and fine art history at Florence Academy of the Arts. Though I was classically trained in drawing, painting and sculpture, my personal artwork since college is primarily photography. I am a firm advocate for interdisciplinary study as I believe working in all mediums only strengthens your creativity and skill in your concentration. I have enjoyed the UA Arts Administration program as it has already filled and then many voids I have felt needed filling in my noesis of the arts in full general. What projects are you currently working on?
This Fall we have executed two exhibitions in Emily Davis Gallery: Bearing Witness and Suffrage. What is your background in the arts?
My mother is a Silversmith and Painter who plays Guitar and sings. My begetter was a Photojournalist. My grandmother could play anything she heard by ear on the Piano, and she loved to sing, as well. I am absolutely loving it! In addition to the usual elements you lot might expect, I have also arranged some interesting partnerships -- including a custom ice cream flavor at Chill Artisan Ice Cream and the back up of the Summit County Voter Registration Squad.
Where do you meet yourself after graduating?
My first semester concern elective option is very telling most my academic priorities.
